Each year I make a bookmark and my theme this year is unity.

Everything in our world evolved from common origins. Travelling upwards from particles, hydrogen the simplest atom is formed; hydrogen atoms marshaled by gravity become a star. Stars manufacture other atoms that organise to make proteins and then cells. All of life follows: including ginkgo trees and people, then teacups and rocket pencils.
Each new thing has potential to affect things already existing and what might come after. It is a picture of potential, contingency and emergence.
